Wired is having a photo competition and the subject is "circles". These are my entries.

My parents are now in London, and I went there over New Years. It was great to see them and my brothers, it had been a long time since the five of us were together!

Kermatheano is my parent's house in Brittany, France. I spent a couple of days there, collected my thoughts and got things together to make my return as a european citizen official. I enjoyed the solitude, outings to the beach, graffiti projects and my grandmother's home-made jam from our orchard's apples.

Another trip to one of my favorite places in the whole world: Potrero Chico, Mexico. Climbed and recharged my soul with some great outdoors. A much-needed break after having spent the last months in the lab!!

Christmas at my aunt's ranch out in West Texas... Besides the fun family time, I delected in decidedly texan things: huge skies, honky-tonk blues, horses in the backyard, riding four-wheelers in the dark and cutting out the headlights...

I have finally emerged from the murky depths of thesis-writing, and now that the blinders are off I can think of other things -- like updating the site. I have not stopped taking pictures, so I have a bunch to share, it will just take a bit of time to sort. This fall I took Photojournalism class and we shot black and white film all semester. Here are some scans of images I have taken during the course. More to come.

This man came from Japan to travel the States, and earns his living by playing the trumpet -- beautifully -- on the street.

August is the season for shooting stars, and a particularly intense meteor shower was scheduled for the 13th. We headed out to Pace Bend to camp out and get away from the city lights. The full moon made it a little bright (and there are more houses out there than I had realized), but I still got to make some wishes! We slept on the cliffs next to the water, directly under the stars. Then did some climbing the next day. You know it's going to be a good one when you open your eyes to this:

Heather had organized a modeling session to do sketches for her upcoming show, of which the theme is "guardians". I took advantage of the opportunity to take some pictures of these lovely guardians...

I think that bathroom art is a very interesting phenomenon. As a form of graffiti, being in a public place makes the art come to you, as opposed to you having to go to it ( in a gallery or museum, for example ). It also has the particularity of commanding your attention for at least 10 seconds, which is more than if you walked by some piece on a wall and didn't stop. And in a way, it's symptomatic of where the said Throne is located, and the people who frequent it . . . in this case, the Creekside Lounge on 7th.

I went to Merida, Mexico for a conference of the American Society of Plant Biologists. Afterwards, did a little traveling through the Yucatan and Chiapas.

Four days to go from Austin to NYC with my two favorite travel companions :)
